Oh, zut alors!

Well, we've certainly been busy. The Louvre, Latin Quarter, my old digs, etc. Went up to Sacre Coeur and climbed the famous steps.

Julia and Lisa went to Versailles alone today as I have a fever. I crawled out of the apartment to send emails and will write more later.

Stinky to be sick, but hey, sick in Paris is only SO bad so I guess I won't whine too much. :)

Yes, we are here!

Here we are! Ok, well I'm behind the lense here. But Lisa and Julia toast to finally ariving after 18 hrs of travel. Our brains are scrambled from fatigue and jetlag.

But I am desperately happy to be back in Paris again!

Ok, so we're packed!

So, today's the day. We've been planning for 2 years and here we go!! We, well at least I, have managed to pack our carry-on with only 13 lbs of stuff. But boy I've got a big purse!

I'm always nervous that we'll show up at the airport and they'll say, "Who?" Especially with no real ticket in hand. But it's worked smoothly before and I have no reason to think it won't this time either.
I've figured out how, exactly, we'll get into Paris from the airport and then where the metro stop is and where to get off.

I'm planning to have us crash for a while, eat, then do a boat ride on the Seine.

Pics to follow!!

The picture above is from the Tuilleries Gardens, looking across the Seine and into the 7th arrondisement. The little dome is where my room was.

Almost time to go...

With all of the things going on in my life right now, I can hardly believe it's almost time to go. I'm trying to make check lists so I don't forget the obvious things, you know, like underwear or passports!

Normally I love to read and pour over books and web sites, anticipating a trip. But this time, it hasn't been possible. I sort of feel like I've been breathlessly running in circles and I'll wake up there.

Hope I remember the key!

This is a photo taken when Emily and I were in Paris in 2006. It's from the base of Sacre Coeur.

So here's a picture of the place where I lived from Aug '86- May '87. It was my window on Paris. I did not have the fortune of living in the WHOLE turret, only about a 1/3 of it.

But my view was probably one of the best in town: the Legion d'Honeur, Musee d'Orsay (which opened while I was there), le Louvre, les Jarden des Tuilleries, l'Opera (the old one), and Mont Martres with Sacre Coeur!

Madame le Contess de Clermont-Tonnere lived two floors down from me. My room was one of her chambres des bonnes.

So, yes, I will drag Lisa and Julia there to stare up at my window. And when we take the boat down the Seine, I will look for a light in MY little window!

I imagine, with prices so high, and the need for flats so high, that that little room is now part of a studio or larger flat. I doubt many have the luxury of keeping their little chambres des bonnes for their bonnes anymore.

Paris Ladies Unite

Tonight Lisa, Julia and I will meet at Sebago Brewery for a much needed drink and planning for our trip in 2 weeks.

Well talk about the 4 things each of us wants to do definately, One of which will be a trip toVersailles and then hopefully a dinner with Aunt Norrine and Uncle Jean. I also have a learn French audiobook for one of them.

I've got the bus schedules and itinerary for everyone.

Woooo Hooo, we're really going!

The Eiffel Tour

Here's a photo taken from my trip with Emily in 2006.

We rented an apartment and stayed for two weeks.
